A worker was fatally injured at a site in Manhattan's Hudson Yards for the Gateway tunnel project on Oct. 23, according to the Gateway Development Commission, Amtrak and Related Companies.

The incident took place at the Hudson Yards Concrete Casing project site on 30th Street between 11th and 12th avenues. All work is suspended while an investigation takes place, the statement said. The worker who died was an employee of the New York Concrete Corporation, the agencies said.

The agencies and the company overseeing the project said they "extend our profound condolences to the family of the worker who suffered a fatal injury on the Hudson Yards Concrete Casing project today."

"We thank all the first responders for their immediate and thorough efforts," they said.
