BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A mother and son were killed in a murder-suicide in Delano on Sunday, according to the Delano Police Department.

Officers with the Delano Police Department reported to the 1300 block of 7th Avenue for a welfare check on an unresponsive female around 8:33 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers found a male and female dead with at least one apparent gunshot wound, according to officials.

Investigation showed it was a murder-suicide. Officials said it is believed they were mother and son.

It is not immediately known who fired the fatal shots.

The Kern County Coroner's Office will identify the decedents.
