EDDINGTON, Maine — The Eddington Fire Department responded to an apartment fire Thursday afternoon.
Crews were called around 11:52 a.m. to a two-story building with six units on Riverside Drive, according to Eddington Fire Deputy Chief Craig Russell. The fire was in an apartment on the first floor.
Russell said that upon arriving, a fire was coming out of the windows on the front side of the building.
Several cats were reported inside, Russell said. Multiple were rescued, though two did not survive. Everyone inside the building exited safely with no reported injuries.
The fire was knocked down around 12:09 p.m. and was under control by 12:21 p.m.
