LEWISTON, Maine — Gov. Janet Mills has directed that U.S. and Maine state flags be lowered to half-staff statewide on Saturday, Oct. 25, marking two years since the mass shootings in Lewiston that claimed 18 lives and injured many others.
Flags will remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in remembrance of the victims and in honor of the survivors of the October 25, 2023, tragedy at Just-In-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar & Grille.
"As we mourn and pay tribute to those we lost two years ago, I hope all Maine people will support the victims' loved ones and all those who were injured by showing the love that we have in our hearts for each other," Mills said in a statement Friday.
"Although nothing can lessen their loss, we grieve with the families of the victims and the survivors
