TOPSHAM, Maine — A shelter-in-place order at Mt. Ararat High School on Friday has been lifted after Topsham police investigated and determined there was no immediate threat.
In a letter to the school community, MSAD 75 administrators said the high school received an anonymous tip shortly before 9 a.m. referencing a "serious matter involving potential sex trafficking and a violent threat."
School officials said the threats were unconfirmed and did not indicate danger to the school, but a shelter-in-place order was initiated "out of an abundance of caution."
Topsham police investigated the anonymous tip and determined there was "no immediate threat to the school community."
