The Margao Eastern bypass has virtually turned into a garbage dumping site, with a waste mound taking shape near the Bokti lake.

That’s not all. The entire stretch of the bypass, from Nuvem junction to Arlem junction, is yet to be illuminated till date for reasons best known to the PWD and the electricity department.

Complaints lodged by local residents of Nuvem as well as motorists that the entire eastern bypass has become a waste dumping ground has not spurred the authorities to illuminate the road stretch to keep unscrupulous elements at bay.

Incidentally, the waste mound has not disappeared despite the fact that government agencies such as the Goa Waste Management Corporation are mandated to clear the road sides of waste.
