KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Cedar Bluff Elementary is celebrating a new addition to its playground and outdoor classroom.

Officials from Cedar Bluff Elementary, Knox County Schools and the Knox County Commission came together Thursday morning for a ribbon-cutting on a new turf surface.

This project was made possible through a $95,000 donation from Prosperity Crossing, a large sports park on Watt Road, with support from Turf of America. Officials say that the new turf isn't just for play; it can be an outdoor classroom as well.

"This space used to be used as an open, free space that was connected to one of our playgrounds. And it had been beaten down all the grass through the years. And had become a very dusty pit. And so we needed to improve the area so that it could be a safe play space
