[AMES, Iowa] — The search for the next president at Iowa State University has narrowed down to four finalists. This decision came after an extensive discussion by the Iowa Board of Regents.

The finalists will visit the campus in November to engage with community members and participate in a forum to discuss their suitability for the role.

Students on campus expressed their hopes for a president who prioritizes student engagement.

"Somebody who's willing to promote that, willing to work with the student affairs and athletics and things like that," one student said.

Another student added, "More interactive, like at student events."

The Board will make a final decision by November 11. The new president is expected to start in January 2026, following the current president's departure.
