What began more than four years ago as a hope, a plan and a significant financial ask has since helped transform the face of Vanderbilt athletics.
When the school announced its ambitious $300 million Vandy United investment blueprint for student-athletes and athletics programs in 2021, the football team was still playing in a stadium that — in some respects — looked more fit for a high school squad than a Southeastern Conference team.
The basketball teams were playing in beloved, old Memorial Gymnasium, but were in desperate need of improved practice facilities, bigger weight rooms and modernized training sites.
