SUFFOLK, Va. — Suffolk Sheriff David Miles faces a challenge from two other law enforcement veterans to be the next leader of the department.

All three candidates vying for the Suffolk Sheriff's Office, one of the faster-growing localities in the state of Virginia, come in with either previous local law enforcement or military experience.

Election Day is November 4.

Current role of Suffolk Sheriff's Office

The Suffolk Sheriff's Office currently oversees two responsibilities:

keeping the safety and security of the Mills E. Godwin Courthouse as well as assisting in the daily operations of each court
