NORWICH, Vt. (WCAX) - Stroke survivors and their caregivers traded their usual support group meeting for a hands-on pizza-making class at King Arthur Baking Company in Norwich.
Scott Moore, who had a brain stem stroke two years ago, was among the participants learning to make pizza dough as part of Thursday’s field trip organized for members of Dartmouth Health’s stroke support group .
“A lot of people become disabled if they have it in their brain stem,” Moore said.
While mixing ingredients, Moore explained that heightened emotions and memory loss are lasting side effects of his stroke. He credits the support group with helping his recovery. “It is unbelievable the support that I receive from everybody, and the love,” he said.
