Duluth-based musician Todd Eckart has been identified as one of the victims of a head-on collision that took place in northwestern Wisconsin on Wednesday. He was 61-years-old.
The collision took place on Highway 53 near Hawthorne Township in Wisconsin. Both drivers, who were the only occupants of their cars, were killed in the crash.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says Daniel Ohara, 77, of Superior, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when he struck Eckart's Dodge Caravan, killing them both.
Eckart was a familiar face to live music lovers in the Duluth area, playing solo concerts, as well as events like a 2024 benefit where his band performed a tribute to Buddy Holly.
