A nearly 60-year age gap didn't stop neighbors Julissa Gomez and Delmar Harter from becoming best buddies.

When Harter, 85, approached Gomez, 27, and her family after they moved into their new California home in 2015, the two clicked instantaneously.

"Delmar came over with a little cut-out newspaper. It had a little fun factor joke on it," Gomez said on "The Kelly Clarkson Show." "My first impression of Delmar -- he was very sweet and memorable."

Gomez and her parents started a routine with Harter, attending Sunday church every week, followed by grabbing a bite to eat.

Fast forward, Gomez and her husband took over the role, doing various activities.
