DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) -- The number is still in the hundreds, but Iowans who may lose all or part of their paychecks because of the partial federal government shutdown is approximinately half as much as Governor Kim Reynolds estimated on Wednesday.

The governor previously said that 700-800 National Guard members and employees from Iowa Workforce Development had been furloughed or impacted by the federal funding freeze, and that approximately the same number in other agencies would be also affected.

Fortunately, it is not yet that high. On Thursday her spokesperson clarified the total number currently affected:

450 Iowa National Guard members furloughed.

250 Iowa National Guard members working without pay.
