ARNOLDS PARK, Iowa — Time is running out to save 73 acres of grassland in Arnolds Park from development.

Over the summer, 73 acres of undeveloped grassland near the City of Arnolds Park was rezoned for possible development. This caught the attention of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation as roughly 240 acres of watershed drain through the Arnolds Park Nature Area.

The foundation believes it’s a key location for restoring wetlands and prairie, as well as preserving green space for community members to enjoy. It will also provide an opportunity for a trail head and a possible trail connection to the existing Great Lakes Spine Trail.
