PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Police were called to Vancouver's Hudson's Bay High School on Wednesday after officials said a gun was found in a student's backpack.

The incident unfolded at around noon, when Hudson's Bay administration said they received a report from a community member that a student may have brought a gun to the school.

After calling police and their district safety office for additional support, the school was put into a "hold response," keeping staff and students in one designated area.

According to Hudson's Bay Principal Amber Beardmore, District Resource Officers searched the student's backpack and found a gun inside.

Within a few minutes, Vancouver police officers then arrived at the scene to further assist.

The 16-year-old student was arrested and booked into juveni
