NEW YORK (PIX11) -- If you were an AARP member or a registered user of the AARP website, you may be owed money.

The nonprofit organization has agreed to a $12.5 million settlement to resolve claims that it shared people's personal information with Facebook.

The class action lawsuit explained that AARP has "thousands of videos on its website, many of which contain information about particularly sensitive topics related to aging and serious health conditions." AARP subscribers get access to this video content, which includes things like driver's safety courses for seniors, as part of their membership with the organization.

The lawsuit alleges AARP was sharing information about its users' video viewing habits with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, without people's consent
