SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - If you’ve seen more purple around recently, it’s most likely in solidarity with Domestic Violence Awareness.
The YWCA serves as one of the main hubs in Michiana for survivors of domestic violence. And on Thursday morning, the organization presented its annual certificate of honor to seven local police officers that have done some life-saving work.
That includes Mishawaka, South Bend and St. Joseph County police.
“This is not celebratory, I know it kind of seems that way with the applause, but nobody should be setting a record with how many we do, the record should be zero, that’s what all of our goals are,” said South Bend Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski.
