SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Halloween is a week away from Friday and the city of South Bend is working to get into the spooky spirit.
Thursday night at the downtown YMCA children had the opportunity to participate in the annual ‘Pumpkin Plunge’.
The fun included the youngsters diving into the pool to choose which pumpkin they wanted to use to decorate for the upcoming holiday.
According to staff members this is a season favorite not just for Halloween, but for water safety as well.
“We’re kind of new here, the South Bend YMCA. So, we’re really trying to make our mark on the community and invite as many people as possible to experience our pool because we are incredibly passionate about water safety.
