SALEM, Ore. — Oregon state Rep. Christine Drazan, R-Canby, has been appointed to fill the seat vacated by former Republican state Sen. Daniel Bonham, who resigned on Oct. 5. She will represent Senate District 26 for the remainder of Bonham's term, which ends in January 2027.
She was appointed Thursday afternoon at a joint meeting of the Clackamas, Hood River, Multnomah and Wasco county commissions. Under Oregon law, mid-term vacancies are filled by a vote from the commissions of the counties that overlap with the district, choosing from a list of finalists supplied by the party of the lawmaker who vacated the seat.
Bonham endorsed Drazan as his preferred successor when he announced his departure plans last month. The other nominees put forward by the state Republican Party were John G
