PORTLAND, Ore. — Winter may still be a couple of months away, but Portland Bureau of Transportation crews are already gearing up to keep roads safe.
PBOT conducted a full inspection of its snow vehicle fleet Thursday, checking its 56 snow plows , salt spreaders and tanker trucks that spread liquid deicer.
“We’re making sure everything is in proper working order, so we’re testing everything from 'Can the plow blade move up and down, left and right? Do the headlights and turn signals work on that truck?'" said Dylan Rivera, spokesperson with PBOT.
“Today, we’re finding sort of the minor things that don't fit or need a repair; these things tend to be sort of not urgent matters, (but) they could be urgent in the event of a winter storm," he continued.
