An 11-year-old girl is in a critical condition and four-year-old boy suffered severe but not non-life-threatening injuries after a Toyota Corolla and Nissan Skyline collided at the intersection of Wallace Road and High Street Road in Wantirna South.
The driver of the Corolla, a 38-year-old Knoxfield woman, was taken to hospital with minor injuries while the fourth passenger, a 38-year-old Knoxfield man, was uninjured.
The occupants of the Nissan, two 18-year-old men, stopped at the scene. An Ambulance spokesperson said the teenagers were taken to Maroondah Hospital for minor injuries.
