WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Crews spent hours Thursday cleaning up over 1,000 pounds of garbage illegally dumped on Wilson Road in Waco, according to McLennan County Precinct 2 Commissioner D.L. Wilson.
The dumped items included old fence posts, a pet crate and household items. Wilson said the incident is part of a growing trend of illegal dumping in Precinct 2.
“We’re having an outbreak of this stuff here, recently, in precinct 2. We just want to put a stop to it. There’s dumps, and a landfill a mile away from here, so it’s not like we’re hidden,” Wilson said.
Illegal dumping of 1,000 pounds or more is a state jail felony in Texas. The violation can result in fines up to $10,000 and up to two years in jail.
