Alaskan Airlines has grounded flights nationwide after announcing the company was dealing with an information technology outage.

The issue, according to multiple media accounts, was first reported at around 4:21 p.m.

“Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations,” the airline said in a post to X. “A temporary ground stop is in place.”

Airline officials went on to apologize for the inconvenience and urged customers with flights scheduled for this evening to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

The nature of the IT outage is unclear, nor is it clear what may have led to the issue.

This is the airline’s second nationwide outage since July.
