DALLAS, Pa. — Kids were getting into the Halloween spirit through science in Luzerne County .
Misericordia University hosted the annual "Boom in the Night" event, offering students hands-on science demonstrations with a unique, spooky twist, such as a "puking pumpkins" demonstration—said to be a Halloween favorite that brings chemistry to life with color, motion, and plenty of fizz.
"From young age to even up to 12 or 13 years old, we're able to engage kids in different activities," said Dr. Anna Fedor, Associate Professor at Misericordia. "We do everything from slime to bath bombs, cosmetic chemistry. And then we even did some chromatography this year, separation of colors."
The event is put together by the Dead Alchemist Society, Misericordia's student chemistry club.
