Shillong, Oct 23: A Guwahati-based photographer, Himadri Bhuyan, has captured a breathtaking image of Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon streaking across the night sky above Mawkyrwat on the night of October 22.
The rare celestial spectacle provided a moment of cosmic wonder in this tranquil corner of the North East, where dark, pollution-free skies offered ideal viewing conditions.
Discovered earlier in 2025, Comet Lemmon is a long-period visitor delighting skywatchers worldwide with its striking greenish coma and luminous dust tail. From Meghalaya, the comet appeared low on the western horizon approximately 50 minutes after sunset under clear skies. It is expected to remain at its brightest until early November, reaching a magnitude between 4 and 2.5.
