HONOLULU (Island News) -- Hawaiian Airlines flights are operating on schedule as an IT outage has grounded Alaska Airlines flights across the country on Thursday.
Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage which has disrupted operations, according to the airline said. The ground stop of Alaska and Horizon Air flights was caused by "a failure at our primary data center" that began around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23.
Alaska and Horizon flights are being cancelled tonight. Despite the airline merger, Hawaiian flights are unaffected by Alaska's technology issues.
The IT outage impacted several of Alaska's key systems that enable various operations to run. However, the outage never compromised the safety of its flights.
