CARMEL – While residents of Putnam County slept Thursday morning, members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, and police agencies from Carmel, Kent, Brewster and Brewster State Police conducted a coordinated warrant sweep operation throughout multiple jurisdictions countywide.

Sheriff Brian Hess said 38 individuals with outstanding warrants were identified with 20 located and taken into custody to answer charges.

The sheriff said the operation could not have been so successful without the “partnership and support” of outside agencies including the Westchester County Police Department, Westchester / Putnam Real Time Crime Center, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Putnam County 911 Center and the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office.
