Hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of contraband was seized at Collins Bay Institution last week.

In a media release on Thursday, the Correctional Service of Canada said the vigilance of staff members led to the seizure of multiple packages between Oct. 14 and 16.

Among the unauthorized items were tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (cannabis concentrate) and hashish, as well as cell phones and cell phone accessories.

The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is approximately $338,745.

CSC said they use a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions, including ion scanners and detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
