LONGVIEW, Texas — A woman who admitted to killing her boyfriend in 2020 in Longview testified Thursday that she and the man were abusive to each other during their years-long relationship.

The third day of testimony in Angelita Marie Ruiz’s murder trial revealed that Ruiz and Joshua Huffman threatened each other, used drugs together and had what Ruiz called “toxic” communication with each other. Ruiz waived her Fifth Amendment rights and testified Thursday so that her “truth could be heard,” she said.

The trial is taking place in the 124th District Court.
