KILGORE, Texas — Region 7 Education Service Center in Kilgore hosted its fourth annual Dyslexia Awareness Day for hundreds of students across East Texas to show them that their learning differences are their strengths.
More than 400 students from 43 school districts across East Texas came together for Region 7 ESC’s Dyslexia Day. Community members, teachers and even Miss Teen Nebraska 2024 volunteered their time and shared their experiences.
Students participated in fun, hands-on activities focused on STEM, problem-solving, and creative projects.
Dr. Angela Venters, RLA and dyslexia coordinator, said the goal is to help every student leave feeling empowered, confident and proud of the way they learn, while also connecting with others who share similar challenges and experiences.
