PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A KOIN 6 Weather Alert goes into place Friday and continues Saturday as an atmospheric river brings wind and rain to the Pacific Northwest.
Rain showers will intensify and become more widespread and heavier through the afternoon hours on Friday. Soaking rains will be accompanied by breezy weather. Winds will gust close to 30 mph on Friday afternoon in the Portland metro area. Winds along the coastline may ramp up to 45mph today.
Rain accumulation is expected to reach almost 2.25" from Friday morning to Saturday evening. Coastal communities could see almost five inches of rain by the end of the storm early next week. Minor urban flooding is a concern during periods of heavy rain. Remember to never attempt to drive through floodwaters.
