Former Southern coach Terrence Graves posted a statement addressed to fans on social media.

The second-year coach was fired Monday after Southern (1-6, 0-3 SWAC) fell 24-3 to Prairie View at homecoming. Graves finished his tenure with the Jaguars with a 9-11 overall record and a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship appearance in his first season.

“I want to Thank Southern University Leadership, Students, Alumni, and Supporters for giving me the Opportunity as Head Football Coach,” Graves said on X, formerly Twitter. "I am Forever Grateful and Blessed. We did not meet our goals this season. A season frustration and disappointment. As the Leader (former), I take full responsibility for not meeting our goals and expectations. I wanted to Win for Southern University.
