An 82-year-old tricyclist died after he was hit by a vehicle Thursday in Livonia, city police officials confirmed.
Police responded to a report of a vehicle and bicycle collision at around 7 p.m. on Middle Belt Road. At the scene, the tricyclist, identified as a Livonia resident, was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
A preliminary investigation found the man had been trying to cross the road outside of the crosswalk when a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old Livonia woman struck him.
Police said the driver stopped at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation.
Alcohol is not presumed to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing. Other details were not released.
The incident came two days after a bicyclist was struck by a truck in Westland and died.
