BILLINGS, Mont. – The City of Billings has provided an update on its relationship with the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter (YVAS) and the status of its animal control operations.
The city hired a certified methamphetamine cleanup company to remediate the incinerator room under a plan approved by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The DEQ did not find any other areas requiring methamphetamine cleanup. Northern Industrial Hygiene (NIH) conducted re-testing last week, and the city expects a DEQ Certificate of Fitness by early November.
The city has reimbursed YVAS $51,191.25 for initial cleaning and testing. Right Now Cleaning was paid $6,621.00 for incinerator room remediation. The city is committed to responsibly spending taxpayer funds and is evaluating other reimbu
