ALOHA, Ore. — Students and staff were evacuated at Aloha High School due to a reported gas leak, officials reported Friday morning.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said the Washington County Sheriff's Office helped with the controlled evacuation, with Northwest Natural also on scene.
"Due to a natural gas leak, we have evacuated the school and will be releasing students early," Beaverton School District said in a letter to parents. "Because of dangerous gas levels, no one is being allowed to return to the building. That means, students will NOT be able to retrieve their belongings, including house and car keys. We apologize for the inconvenience, but safety is our priority."
