BALTIMORE —
It's time to start checking medicine cabinets for any unwanted or expired medications.
Saturday marks another National Drug Take Back Day, during which police departments and health care centers across Central Maryland will accept prescription medications.
Officials stress the importance of properly disposing of medications and the risks associated with keeping them around.
"We really want to make sure that medicines you are not taking aren't available in your home. We want to make sure that they are in a safe place, away from people that shouldn't be taking them or having access and also away from your pets and other loved ones," said Irina Butler, the deputy executive director and vice president of compliance for the Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group.
