Australian darts player Tim Pusey has been banned from using his nickname at the upcoming world championships in London.
The 33-year-old is known as “The Magnet”, which on the surface appears to be a harmless moniker.
But when paired with his surname, it creates a vulgar innuendo that the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) are not happy with.
Pusey previously had “The Magnet” branded on the back of his playing shirt, but he has been forced to remove it ahead of December’s showpiece event.
The PDC reserve the right to “prohibit offensive, vulgar or inappropriate nicknames” and while they haven’t officially commented on Pusey, the man himself revealed he won’t be using it. Loading Tweet
“No. That’s why I don’t have any of that on my shirt,” Pusey told the Tungsten Tales podcast .
