FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Tygart Valley United Way is shifting its fundraising strategy for its $605,000 2025-26 campaign, focusing on individualized donation efforts after experiencing what CEO Brett White called "fundraising fatigue."

Earlier this year, the United Way canceled its second annual Lip Sync Battle — set for October — due to a lack of participation. It was intended to be replaced with a fundraising game night called "A Night at the Bee," but that, too, was canceled earlier this summer due to low participation.

Traditionally, the Tygart Valley United Way has held a large fundraising event in October that has seen upwards of $50,000 added to the organization's campaign goal. White, however, said the landscape has changed so much that such an event wasn't viable this year.
