ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A woman and child were taken to an area hospital after a driver hit them with a car in Alexandria on Friday afternoon.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, the crash caused Russell Road to be closed between High Street and Braddock Road.
Very little information has been released regarding the crash, but police did confirm that the driver stopped after the car hit the woman and child.
Both victims were taken to an area hospital for help. The woman has what police describe as significant head injuries. The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Other drivers are asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
