LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - Prosecutors in Jackson County have charged a man two years after a pair of fentanyl overdose deaths.
Angel Esparza is charged with second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and delivering a controlled substance for his role in the deaths of two Wingstop employees in October 2023.
Court documents filed Friday in Jackson County said Victim 1 was found dead inside of his apartment bedroom on Oct. 22, 2023. A search of his cell phone revealed he worked at Wingstop with his manager, who he exchanged text messages about drug usage with.
The manager died two days later on Oct. 24 from another overdose. The Lee’s Summit Police Department was contacted by the Belton Police Department about Victim 2’s death after the man was found dead in the basement bedroom of a
