On Tuesday night, Park City High’s girls flag football teams squared off on their inaugural senior night. The Miners Black team, comprising eighth through 10th graders, upset the upperclassmen in the Miners Red team 28-20 under the lights on Dozier Field.

A strong crowd cheered on both teams, an enthusiastic announcing crew kept things lively and the girls showcased their growing skillsets. Highlights included a few acrobatic catches, a diving flag tackle and a double-reverse play.

This is the first season for girls flag football in Utah. The Utah High School Girls Flag Football Association was founded this past spring with the help of various shareholders like the Las Vegas Raiders. Girls flag football is rapidly growing; its Olympic debut set for 2028.
