UNION, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Union Public Safety Department reports a father was arrested after a child succumbed to a cardiac arrest in September.
Officers report responding to North Boyce Street on Sept. 23, where Union County EMS was already on scene. A 1-year-old child was taken to Union Medical Center, where they died.
Public safety said they asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Child Fatality Unit to assist in an investigation. Investigators then learned the Union County Sheriff’s Office had made a controlled purchase of narcotics at the same residence, hours before the child’s death.
Tyrese Deshawn Crawford, 27, was charged with homicide by child neglect, officers said. Fentanyl was present inside the residence at the time of the cardiac arrest, according to an
