RURAL RETREAT, Va. (WDBJ) - As chilly weather moves in, the Town of Rural Retreat is giving families something to look forward to in the spring.
The town is currently working to develop empty land next to downtown into a park with a new splash pad, playground, farmer’s market venue, and event space.
Town Manager Jason Childers said the reality for many people in Rural Retreat is they have to travel to find something to do.
That’s no longer going to be the case.
“We want to have them stay here, stay home, not a long drive and really enjoy their family in their hometown,” said Childers. “That’s what we’re striving to do.”
