LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A mother and her newborn baby are together again after the La Vergne Police Department said the child was taken Friday morning near Greenwood Drive.

"She [the mother] was very frantic and in extreme panic that her four-week-old was taken by the father of the child who has no parental rights,” LVPD Lt. David Durham told News 2. "They determined that the male had taken the child and placed it in the car and drove off in a reckless manner."

Moments after the 911 call, police put out a description of the suspect’s vehicle.

“Officers were diligent and did their job, noticed this vehicle and did a traffic stop on it,” Durham explained.

Durham said the mother and the baby were separated for a “very short” period of time, and the suspect was cooperative.
