LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A Louisville mother is facing charges after police say she left her 2-year-old child at home alone.

Police were called to the 1200 block of S 13th Street on Thursday around 1 p.m. A caller told police there was a child alone in an apartment and crying in a window.

Officers arrived and were eventually able to locate the child on the second floor. Police said the child was crying and beating his head on the window as they tried to get inside the apartment.

Neighbors told police the boy's mother often leaves the child home alone and goes to hang out with her friends. Another neighbor said they had not seen the boy's mother since 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

A neighbor was able to get ahold of the boy's mother, 22-year-old Claudia Skalecki. They said she was at a friend's house.
