D.C. Police said shots were fired near Howard University on Friday night as the school celebrated its 101st homecoming weekend.

A spokesperson for D.C. Fire and EMS confirmed personnel transported at least four people with gunshot wounds to a nearby hospital.

Police said the shooting took place around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Howard Place NW.

Police have not given any further information about a suspect or victims. Police have closed more streets to motorists and pedestrians both ways around the area.
