BOWLING GREEN, Ky . – A community favorite is returning this weekend.
The Med Center Heroes Fest is back Sunday with Halloween thrills, treats and plenty of candy. Med Center EMS, along with local fire, police and other first responders, will be handing out candy to the thousands of children expected to attend.
Organizers say the event is about more than candy — it’s a chance for first responders to build trust with the community, especially with children who may otherwise only meet them during emergencies.
“We enjoy giving back where we can,” said Seth Wilson, director of Med Center EMS. “If we can introduce the community and the kids to what first responders do before they see us when they need us, it helps with overall understanding of who we are and what we do.”
