WASHINGTON — A $680 million prize was up for grabs on Friday night's Mega Millions drawing with the ninth-largest jackpot in the game's history.
It was not immediately known whether someone had won the jackpot.
The grand prize grew after Tuesday's drawing failed to produce a jackpot winner.
If there are no grand prize winners on Friday, it would become the 35th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner since the last big win of $348 million in Virginia on June 27. The growing prize now ranks as the ninth largest in Mega Millions history since the game launched in 2002.
The jackpot has grown significantly since Mega Millions increased its ticket price from $2 to $5 in April 2025. While the higher price point has driven larger jackpots, it also came with improved odds for players.
