VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Police were called to a shooting on Village Drive, near the Hilltop area, on Friday afternoon.

According to officials, emergency communication and citizens services (ECCS) received a call at 1:37 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim. Authorities said in a statement that they found a man on the scene with injuries, mentioning that there is no direct threat to the public.

Neighbors on the block who were home at the time of the shooting told 13News Now that they heard the incident unfold.

“All of a sudden, I heard three loud gunshots,” said one woman, who wanted to keep her identity hidden for safety reasons. She lives only a few doors down the street from where the shooting happened.

She said she was working from home when the gunshots went off.
